Almeda A. Obermeier, 98, of Charles City, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Almeda Obermeier will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Church.
Almeda Alice Kneisel was born August 14, 1912, in Floyd County, the daughter of Charles and Lida Ann (McCarty) Kneisel. She graduated from Charles City High School. On October 15, 1930, she was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Obermeier in Austin, Minn. Almeda was employed at Davis Paint and retired from Sears. For many years Almeda was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anthony’s Circle, McKinley Home Craft Circle and Wildwood Ladies Golf Association. Her interests included golfing, crocheting, knitting, needle point work and mowing her lawn.
Living family members include her three daughters, Darlene Weiss of Janesville, Sheila Fisher of Charles City and Karen (Dick) Keating of Banning, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Roger Fisher; four sisters; and two brothers.
