Marguerite Patterson

Marguerite Patterson, 97, of Charles City, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Marguerite Patterson will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Marguerite Mary Anderson Patterson was born January 28, 1914, at Chicago, Ill., the daughter of William and Mae (Melody) Anderson. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago. On June 30, 1934, she was united in marriage to Colin “Pat” Patterson at Elmwood Park, Ill. In 1950 they moved to Charles City where they owned and operated Patterson Oil Company for 20 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Saint Anthony Circle and City Improvement. Her interests included reading, knitting and playing Bridge. Family was very important to Marguerite and she looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include two sons, Wayne (Marion) Patterson of Carlsbad, Calif. and Gary Patterson of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; five grandchildren; Julie (Patrick) Lathrop, Audrey (Richard) John, Chris (Raylaine) Patterson, Heather (Sam) Hanson and Jonathon (Liz) Patterson; and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on August 13, 1991; and a sister, Jeanne Jordt.

William “Bill” Rickart

William “Bill” Rickart, 48, of Charles City, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City as the result of complications from pneumonia.

Memorial services for Bill Rickart will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

William Robert Rickart was born November 16, 1962, at Charleston, Ill., the son of William and Darlene (Arnold) Judy. He graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Ray Vouge School of Design in Chicago, Ill. and attended school at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. for Radiologic Technology. Bill was an x-ray technician, worked in a cardiac cath lab and also was a Medical Traveler working in many states. His interests included artwork, flowers, traveling and cooking especially grilling for family and friends. In 2004 Bill had a stroke which prevented him from continuing work. Because of this, he helped start the Head and Stroke Support Group at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Living family members include his mother, Darlene Rickart of Charles City, two sisters, Sheila (Jim) Devereaux and Brenda Judy both of Charles City; four nieces, Melissa (Brad) Martin, Tiffany Reiher, Heather Reiher, and Nicole Reiher; a nephew, Cody Reiher; and three great nephews, Kaleb Martin, Kade Martin and Kale Martin.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Judy; and a brother, Kenneth Eugene Judy.

Mary V. Lovrien

Mary V. Lovrien, 77, of Charles City, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Mary Lovrien will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Pastor Paul Phillips of the Gospel Lighthouse will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Mary Virginia White Lovrien was born April 4, 1933, at Hammond, Ind., the daughter of Donald and Mary Agnes (Hurley) White. She graduated from the Hammond High School. On August 29, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lovrien at Calumet City, Ill. Mary worked for many years as a bank teller at Hammond and Charles City. Mary was proprietor of the Living Vine Christian bookstore for seven years. Her interests included reading, playing Mah Jongg and caring for her dogs. Mary was always devoted to her family and looked forward to sharing life’s experiences with them.

Living family members include her husband, Kenneth Lovrien of Charles City; two daughters, Becky (James) Orcutt and Marie Lovrien both of Charles City; eight grandchildren, Jessamy, Hannah, Ashley, Jacob, and Gabrielle Orcutt and Samuel, Catlyn and Cody Lovrien; two great grandchildren, Cameron Murray and Elijah Herman; and a sister, Margaret “Peg” (Bill) Colvin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Russell and Kevin Lovrien; and two brothers, Robert and Raymond White.
