Mary V. Lovrien


Mary V. Lovrien, 77, of Charles City, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Mary Lovrien will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Pastor Paul Phillips of the Gospel Lighthouse will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the church an hour prior to the service.

Mary Virginia White Lovrien was born April 4, 1933, at Hammond, Ind., the daughter of Donald and Mary Agnes (Hurley) White. She graduated from the Hammond High School. On August 29, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lovrien at Calumet City, Ill. Mary worked for many years as a bank teller at Hammond and Charles City. Mary was proprietor of the Living Vine Christian bookstore for seven years. Her interests included reading, playing Mah Jongg and caring for her dogs. Mary was always devoted to her family and looked forward to sharing life’s experiences with them.

Living family members include her husband, Kenneth Lovrien of Charles City; two daughters, Becky (James) Orcutt and Marie Lovrien both of Charles City; eight grandchildren, Jessamy, Hannah, Ashley, Jacob, and Gabrielle Orcutt and Samuel, Catlyn and Cody Lovrien; two great grandchildren, Cameron Murray and Elijah Herman; and a sister, Margaret “Peg” (Bill) Colvin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Russell and Kevin Lovrien; and two brothers, Robert and Raymond White.
