Thomas Murray

Thomas Murray, 78, of Charles City, died Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Thomas LeRoy Murray was born May 7, 1932, at Elma, the son of Harry and Addie (Miller) Murray. He received his education at Elma. Thomas served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On January 15, 1953 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Zobeck at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes. Thomas was employed at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company for 39 years and after retirement also worked with Park and Recreation. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. His interests included bowling, fishing, yard work, coaching baseball and watching NASCAR. Thomas always looked forward to sharing his life with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Evelyn Murray of Charles City; five children, Eugene (Barb) Murray of Webster City, Marlene (Jerry) Ennen of Homestead, Geraldine Droste of Gladston, IL, Dean (Brenda) Murray of Charles City and Jennifer (Kelvin) Marvin of Charles City; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, David (Peg) Murray of Iowa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.
