Charles W. “Chuck” Stanbro
Charles W. “Chuck” Stanbro, 78, of Charles City, died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Charles Stanbro will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag and Pastor David Werges will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City and after 10 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
Charles was born in Chester, IA in 1932. He was the son of Charles E. and Ella (Felper) Stanbro. In 1951, he married his first wife, Helen Lappin. On May 27, 1961, he married his current wife Sandra L. Tibbitts. Charles, known as Chuck to many, worked at Oliver/White Farm from 1951 to 1993. During the last 18 years at White Farm, prior to retirement, he proudly served as the union president for the UAW Local 1315. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing golf, spending time with friends (and maybe having a beer or two), collecting coins, Oliver and White Farm model tractors, and various caps. He also enjoyed cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, watching Nascar, and being around his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and continue to love him.
Living family members include his wife of 50 years, Sandra Stanbro of Charles City; seven children, Craig (Linda Herrick) Stanbro of Zumbrota, Minn, Kevin (Joanne) Stanbro of West Des Moines, Colleen (Bruce) Lien of Hayword, Minn., Leesa (Barry) Siems of Bolivar, Mo., Denise (Larry) Hall of Fair Play, Mo., Michelle (Robert) Marion of Ionia and Chuck (Deb) Stanbro of Tipton; son-in-law, Ron Mitchel of Dothan, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eldest daughter, Melinda Mitchel; and four sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.
