Marilyn I. Bradley


Marilyn I. Bradley, 82, of Mason City, and formerly of Charles City, died Thursday morning, July 7, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services for Marilyn Bradley will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Paul M. Schaefer of the Plymouth Bible Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Marilyn Irene Howes was born March 28, 1929, in Bedford, the daughter, of Dallas and Ethel (Peterson) Howes. She graduated from the Bedford High School. On July 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lowell D. Bradley in Bedford. They later divorced. Marilyn cleaned several homes in Charles City, including the Starr Home. Her interests included bingo, music, spending time with her family and fishing with longtime friend, Russ Reckner.

Living family members include her four daughters, Sue (Bob) Crooks of Mason City, Karen O’Neill of Santa Clara, Calif., Diana Showalter of Iowa City and Deb Marvin of Charles City; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four sisters, Naomi Moore of Cedar Rapids, Lois Young of Holstein, Ruth (Orville) Marsh of Stanton and Jean Marsh of Texas; and two brothers, David (Sharon) Howes of Red Oak and Richard (Rosela) Howes of Greenfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter, Gracelyn Frieden; three sisters, Crystal Ames, Anita Hall and Linda Hull; and three brothers, Dallas Howes, Jr., Benjamin Howes and a stillborn brother.
