Alan Hart
Alan Hart, 76, of Charles City, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City surrounded by his family.
No funeral service is being planned.
The family will greet friends at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Alan Dean Hart was born August 28, 1934, at Sioux City, the son of Verle and Hazel (Barrow) Hart. He graduated from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Mo. and Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. It was while working in Spirit Lake that he met Helen Lange and they were married on July 25, 1959, in Sutherland. Alan worked in industry for 30 years. He and Helen owned and operated Cedar Valley Printing for 18 years. Alan was a member of the First Congregational Church, Rotary Club, Elks and the YMCA. His interests included golfing, fishing, going to Green Bay Packer and St. Louis Cardinal games and vacationing at Lake Okoboji. One of the highlights of his life was attending, with his sons, the final two games of the 2006 World Series games in which the St. Louis Cardinals won their 10th championship.
Living family members include his wife, Helen Hart of Charles City; two sons, Robert (Susan) Hart of Portland, Ore. and David Hart of Mason City; two grandchildren, Annie and Jackson Hart; a brother, Robert (Alice) Hart of Lancaster, Calif.; and a sister Joan (Ted) Braucht of Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
