Doris A. Wilson


Doris A. Wilson, 72, of Charles City, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Doris Wilson will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Robert Treichel will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Doris Ann Thompson Wilson was born September 20, 1938, at Perry, the daughter of Otis and Blanche (Carlton) Thompson. She received her primary education at Perry until her family moved to Charles City in 1954. She then attended Charles City High School graduating in 1957. On August 17, 1957, she was united in marriage to Walter Wilson at Tuscumbia, Mo. They then moved to Charles City where they would spend the rest of their lives. Over the years Doris was a cabinet maker, hobby farmer and raised puppies and horses. She was a former member of the Oak Park Church, Faith Bible Chapel and Double C Saddle Club. Her interests included all animals, putting puzzles together, sewing and knitting. Family was very important to Doris and she took every opportunity to share life’s experiences with them.

Living family members include a daughter, Brenda (Anthony) Schweiger of Charles City; a step-son, Danny (Gloria) Wilson of Charles City; two step-daughters, Lorraine Dotson of Floyd and Anita Sullivan of Mason City; 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; four brothers, Earl Thompson of Missouri, Otis “Lyle” Thompson of Perry, Neal (Phyllis) Thompson of Ionia and David Thompson of Kansas; and a sister, Rosemary (Earl) Dawson of Streetman, Tex.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1993; two brothers, Ray and Glenn Thompson; and a sister, Irene Miller.
