Idah Quigley


Idah Quigley, 86, of Charles City, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Idah Quigley will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Idah Ione Hunter Quigley was born June 15, 1924, at Center Point, the daughter of David and Pearl (Schmickle) Hunter. She graduated from Center Point High School. On June 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Gordon Quigley at Center Point. They lived in New York City for several years while Gordon was in the Army. After his discharge they returned to Charles City where Gordon was employed at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. Gordon died on November 6, 1995. Idah was a homemaker. For many years they wintered in Texas. Idah enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and helping at and working farmers market.

Living family members include a niece, Juanita Dochterman of Ludowici, Ga.; a great niece, Brenda (Scott) Thompson of Columbia, S.C.; and three great great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Juanita Marie Zarifis.
